TaniHub donates animal feed to Taman Safari Indonesia amid COVID-19 epidemic

first_img“We are preparing a special section on the TaniHub app dedicated to animal feed donations. It will be launched soon,” he said.According to a survey conducted by the Indonesian Zoo Association (PKBS), 92 percent of the association’s members in Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok and Borneo had stocks to feed their animals only until mid-May.TSI, which is notable for its collection of carnivorous animals, previously attempted to compensate for supply shortages by reducing the amount given to the animals and altering the composition of the feed. “We are very supportive of TSI’s [initiatives], especially its scientific research and animal re-population efforts,” Pamitra said in a statement on Monday.Read also: Thousands of animals in Indonesian zoos may soon go hungryThe firm donated 200 kilograms of chicken and 1,300 kg of fruits and vegetables to the zoo on Thursday.TaniSupply director Sariyo said members of the public would soon be able to contribute to the donation campaign through the TaniHub mobile app. Homegrown agricultural (agritech) technology firm TaniHub Group has donated animal feed to Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) in Bogor, West Java as concerns were raised over animal welfare after the zoo was closed to the public amid the COVID-19 epidemic.TSI is the first of several private zoos and conservation centers across the country to have received supplies of animal feed from the agritech company.TaniHub Group president Pamitra Wineka said the company was committed to alleviating some of the burden placed on TSI to maintain the well-being of various fauna amid the major economic downturn.center_img Topics :last_img read more

Blog from the Pod — Bantams return from northern road trip with bronze

first_imgA glitch in the network held up the final installment of the Tyler Podgorenko blog from Smithers, site of the B.C. Hockey Tier III Bantam Rep Championships. The West Kootenay rep, Nelson Leafs, managed to rebound from a pair of tough losses — including a setback in the semi final — to edge Revelstoke in the bronze medal final.Nelson defenceman Tyler Podgrenko has one last blog on what happened last week in Smithers.(Thursday) we again had to wake up at 8 a.m. for our final game as a team and for some of us our last game in Bantams. The game was for Bronze and we were playing the Revelstoke Grizzlies whom we have played three times before in exhibition and tournament (play). The game began very slow and by the end of the first we were winning 1-0.  The game then started to rise and both teams began to play hard and before you knew it we were up 3-2 with some great goals from our forwards. In the third the game began to  be a rough one and Revelstoke was starting to get penalty after penalty and began to play with no intention to win.  We were up 4-3 and the clock began to count down and we ended up winning 4-3 taking home the bronze. Right after the game our parents were eager to get home and we began our long journey home. After nine hours of  driving we stopped in Kamloops for the night and stayed in the Thompson Hotel on the main street. Waking up in the morning after a rough night with little sleep was tough after many players were sick from receiving the flu that night and some with colds. In the morning we all left the hotel for our last chunk of traveling to take on and by 2:30 p.m. the majority of the team was back home in Nelson. Even though not reaching our ultimate goal of winning the provincials i believe that we all gained much knowledge on what it takes, and also many memories. As a team we all improved tremendously and also individually.last_img read more

OpenStreetMap Editor for ArcGIS Launches First Stable Update Since Launch

first_imgTags:#community#Location#web dan rowinski Market-leading Geographic Information System company Esri today released the first stable new version of its ArcGIS Editor for Open Street Map since the eyebrow-raising (if still a little green) tool made a splash at launch last July.Map 2.0 geeks generally consider OpenStreetMap (OSM) one of the coolest things in the geo-world and all things Esri among the least cool. If people working at day jobs in government and industry start making substantial additions to OSM using their existing enterprise-scale tools, though, it could be a winning situation for everyone. The update to version 1.1 brings ArcGIS Editor for OSM out of beta with several bug fixes and improved memory resource utilization.OpenStreetMap is community of users who manage an open and freely available database of geographic data. Users can add community data to maps such as bike trails or cell phone towers, the local candy shop or the best place to walk a dog. ArcGIS Editor is the tool that allows users to interact with the data sets and add data community and authoritative data to OSM from inside the widely used ArcGIS enterprise level map editing tool.ArcGIS Editor for OpenStreetMap 1.1 has been in beta since the end of November, 2010. It has gone through four different beta iterations with a plethora of fixes added by the community. Fixes include making the geo-processing tools Python scriptable, fixing the application crash for the C++ Attribute Selector tool and applying geometry filter on the Symbolize OSM data model. As multiple editing interfaces are improved, the barriers to entry to adding data to the world map should lower and the quality of coverage improve. The ArcGIS Editor was released under Microsoft Public License (Codeplex) that allows users to access, modify and distribute products of the source code. It is hooked through the OSM API where users can download an area of 0.5 by 0.5 degrees or 50,000 nodes, whichever is reached first.ArcGIS and the entire suite of Arc-related products is produced by Esri, a software and development company that provides GIS database and software applications located in Redlands, Calif. The Editor program is part of a larger Arc Desktop function that view spatial layered, add functionality and context and manipulate and modify data pertaining to maps. Esri also provides cloud functionality for ArcGIS and has applications for the iPad and iPhone. Every House Needs Roof Overhangs

first_imgMany residential designers pay too little attention to roof overhangs. Roof overhangs have several important functions: they can protect exterior doors, windows, and siding from rain; they can shade windows when solar heat gain is undesirable; and they can help keep basements and crawl spaces dry. A house with improper overhangs can overheat in the summer, can suffer from water entry problems at windows and doors, and can have premature siding rot.The most common design error is to make roof overhangs too stingy. It’s also possible (although much rarer) for roof overhangs to be too wide.A typical gable roof has two kinds of roof overhangs: eave overhangs and rake overhangs. Because it’s easier to frame a wide eave overhang than a wide rake overhang, problems from stingy overhangs are more common at rakes than eaves.Perhaps the most important function of wide roof overhangs is to help keep water off siding, windows, and doors.[Photo credit: Tom Arstingstall, Tromler Construction]While it’s impossible to stop all wind-driven rain from reaching your walls, wide roof overhangs make a big difference — especially if there is just one story under the overhang.Of course, an overhang that is trying to protect two or three stories is much less effective at keeping the wall dry. (Fortunately, there are solutions to this problem — notably the inclusion of a “brow roof” above the first floor. I will discuss brow roofs in more detail later in this article.)[Photo credit: Lynnette Hartwig, gettingbestprice.com]Walls with stingy roof overhangs get regularly soaked. These repeated wetting episodes cause a variety of problems. Although these problems are worse in high-rainfall climates than low-rainfall climates, almost all North American homes are built in regions where it makes sense to protect walls from the full force of wind-driven… Start Free Trial Already a member? AUSTRALIAN OPEN COACHES ANNOUNCED

first_imgThe Australian Touch Association have announced the coaching appointments for Australia’s Open teams, who will defend their World Number 1 ranking at the 2007 World Cup in South Africa. The calibre of candidates was extremely high and following an extensive process never before undertaken in the appointment of Touch coaches, the successful individuals were: Mens Open – Tony Trad Womens Open – Kerry Norman Mixed Open – Gary Madders The extended process included detailed analysis of applications, an interview, a practical presentation and performance appraisal of all candidates. The Panel included the National Coaching Director, a member of the Board of Directors, the National Technical Manager and an external representative from the Australian Sports Commission Coaching and Officiating division. The make-up of the Panel ensured that extensive analysis of the candidates was undertaken. Tony Trad led the Australian Mixed team to reclaim the Number 1 Mixed crown at the 2003 World Cup in Japan, having closed the gap on New Zealand mixed teams in the last two Trans Tasman campaigns. Kerry Norman was assistant coach of the Open Womens team that also successfully defended its world title in Japan and has also held the position of Australian womens 20s coach at the Youth World Cup in 2001. Gary Madders has been a successful Australian Youth coach in recent years and coach of the highly successful Womens Brisbane City Cobras team at the last national titles. The quality of candidates made the decision extremely difficult and the limited number of positions saw highly credentialed and qualified candidates miss out on an appointment. The national coaches will now work with Cathy Gray, ATA Elite Programs Director, in the selection of the National Training Squads at the 2004 National Touch League in March. The Squads will go into camp in June to start a program building to the World Cup in South Africa in January 2007. Assistant Coach positions have been opened, it is anticipated these will also be highly competitive. Australia and New Zealand are yet to agree on timing and location of the next major internationals, it is anticipated these will be negotiated before the 2004 National Touch League.last_img read more

Canadian actress Caterina Scorsone calls James Toback a predatory director

first_imgAdvertisement Advertisement Advertisement Canadian actress Caterina Scorsone is accusing writer-director James Toback of being “predatory.”On Oct. 16, the Grey’s Anatomy cast member posted an article to her Instagram account that she originally wrote 17 years ago, outlining a “very negative experience” during an audition for an unnamed American director who was shooting a movie in Canada. She has since posted that the alleged story involved Toback. Scorsone followed up on Instagram by saying she decided to connect the story to Toback after reading in Rolling Stone magazine that he denies all allegations of sexual misconduct that have been made against him. “I feel I must corroborate the stories of these women. I want to be clear that the predatory director I wrote about in the article I posted a few days back, was James Toback,” Scorsone wrote. She alleges that Toback wanted to meet her to discuss a role, so she arranged for it to happen “in a deliberately public place.” “It became immediately and alarmingly clear that there was a rider on my eligibility for the role, and that this rider was explicitly sexual in nature,” she alleges.Scorsone, a Toronto native who attended the U of T, said she told him bluntly, “I’m not going to have sex with you,” and didn’t end up getting the part. The two-time Gemini nominee, whose other credits include Private Practice, said many industry people knew about the incident and encouraged her to stay silent.Dozens of women, including actresses Selma Blair and Toronto native Rachel McAdams, have alleged that Toback sexually harassed or assaulted them.Toback has denied the allegations.THE CANADIAN PRESS Facebook Twitter Login/Register With: Actress Caterina Scorsone attends the premiere of Paramount Pictures and Pure Film Entertainment’s “Same Kind Of Different As Me” at Westwood Village Theatre on October 12, 2017 in Westwood, California.
