The stock market crash makes these FTSE 250 shares look cheap to me The stock market crash saw the FTSE 250 fall more than 40% from its year-to-date high to a low of under 13,000 in March. Whilst we’ve seen a partial recovery since then to just over 17,000 currently, some companies remain stubbornly low.Profiting from the stock market crashIbstock (LSE: IBST) is the UK’s leading brickmaker. As such, it is intrinsically linked to the housing market. So it will come as no surprise that when the builders stop making houses, profits will take a hit. Ibstock announced last month that revenues in April and May declined by 75% following March’s stock market crash.5G is here – and shares of this ‘sleeping giant’ could be a great way for you to potentially profit!According to one leading industry firm, the 5G boom could create a global industry worth US$12.3 TRILLION out of thin air…And if you click here we’ll show you something that could be key to unlocking 5G’s full potential…As a result, management turned to cutting costs – with the top brass taking a 20% salary cut – and they announced in June that around 15% of its workforce could be axed as sales volumes slipped. The dividend was cancelled to preserve cash, but should it be reinstated at the same level then we are looking at a yield of 5.5%.However, I see these issues as temporary setbacks. The long-term fundamentals remain unchanged at this FTSE 250 company. A new brick factory is in the works to increase production levels and the acquisition of concrete maker Langley in 2019 will add to its sales. The stock market crash has Ibstock trading 40% below its year high. We have a chronic shortage of housing in the UK and the Government has promised to build 300,000 new homes each year. As the biggest brickmaker in the UK, I would expect Ibstock to profit from this need. I think we are looking at a bargain buy here. You can clean up with this FTSE 250 bargainWaste management company Biffa (LSE: BIFF) continued to operate during the shutdown as a recognised key sector. Therefore, it might be a surprise to see the share price off a third from its year high. But Biffa has not managed to avoid this stock market crash. The dividend was cancelled in March, and Biffa has said it will be ‘restricted’ until at least 2022.Despite a strong performance in its recycling business, the company warned of ‘very significant’ reduction in demand for Industrial and Commercial (I&C) collections. In June, the FTSE 250 company said that revenues in I&C are still 40% below pre-coronavirus levels and may not recover to pre-2020 revenue levels until well into 2022.Biffa also raised £100m in an equity placing at 200p to help see it through the pandemic and to take advantage of any potential acquisitions that may arise.I do think Biffa will survive this stock market crash and revenues will eventually return to pre-crisis levels. But I think there are better FTSE 250 recovery stocks out there to invest in right now, with Ibstock being one of them. Enter Your Email Address David Barnes owns shares in Ibstock. Growing up in that part of the country, he was a fixture always present in our area, and well known by most. I always respected him so very much for being a true man of God, not so much respect however, for some of the other famous preachers. May he rest in peace. When President Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky came to light, Graham called for forgiveness. Clinton told Peter Boyer of The New Yorker, “He took sin seriously. But he took redemption seriously. And it was incredibly powerful the way he did it.”Former president George W. Bush has said it was a conversation with Graham that turned him from his drinking ways when he was young.“I’ve never called him on a specific issue but his influence is bigger than a specific issue, as far as I’m concerned. He warms your soul,” Bush told an ABC 20/20 special on the preacher and politics. From USA TodayThe world’s best-known evangelist, the Rev. Billy Graham, has died. He was 99.Billy GrahamFrom the gangly 16-year-old baseball-loving teen who found Christ at a tent revival, Graham went on to become an international media darling, a preacher to a dozen presidents and the voice of solace in times of national heartbreak. He was America’s pastor.Graham retired to his mountain home at Montreat, N.C., in 2005 after nearly six decades on the road calling people to Christ at 417 all-out preaching and musical events from Miami to Moscow. His final New York City crusade in 2005 was sponsored by 1,400 regional churches from 82 denominations.Presidents called on Graham in their dark hours, and uncounted millions say he showed them the light. He took his Bible to the ends of the Earth in preaching tours he called “crusades.” Even now, anywhere a satellite, radio, TV, video or podcast can reach, his sonorous voice is probably still calling someone to Christ.“He was so real, he made Christianity come true,” observed Susan Harding, an anthropologist at the University of California-Santa Cruz. “He was homespun, historical and newsworthy all at once. He could span the times from Christ to today, from the globe to you, all in one sentence.”Billy Graham delivers a sermon at age 27. (Photo: Billy Graham Evangelistic Association) Grant Wacker, a Duke University professor of Christian history, says Graham represented, “what most decent churchgoing people thought and ought to think.”He never built a megachurch, set up a relief agency, launched a political lobby or ran for office. Yet he redefined American Protestant life by popularizing Christianity’s core message — Christ died for your sins — downplaying denominational details and proclaiming the joys found in faith.Graham was, however, drawn to power. Eventually, he met, prayed with, comforted and joked with 12 U.S. presidents, and Graham learned to walk a tightrope. He found a fine balance that allowed him to become America’s pastor, Democrat or Republican. The AIA’s Housing Awards Program, now in its 13th year, was established to recognize the best in housing design and promote the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit and a valuable national resource. To meet the client’s requirement that the house be highly efficient, it is constructed of structural insulated panels (SIPS). This method allows for a faster construction time, less waste generation, tighter construction, and better insulation. All the windows and doors are designed to surpass energy code requirements, and all of the lighting is either LED or compact fluorescent to reduce energy consumption. The siting and design of the house maximize passive solar benefits to reduce the energy load.Halls Ridge Knoll Guest House; San Francisco / Bohlin Cywinski JacksonSave this picture!Halls Ridge Knoll Guest House; San Francisco / Bohlin Cywinski Jackson © Nic LehouxThe building is carefully detailed in stone, timber, and glass to respond to the site’s rolling topography, a forest of ancient live oaks and manzanita, and panoramic views of the San Clemente Mountains and Los Padres National Forest beyond. A stone wall anchors the building to the sloping site and screens the house and pool. A simple timber-framed shed roof springs from the stone wall, supporting naturally weathered zinc roofing over cedar-clad volumes. Expansive windows provide natural lighting throughout the house, and a broad overhanging roof provides shade from the intense summer sun. Sliding doors and operable hopper windows throughout the house use the prevailing winds for natural ventilation, while also providing expansive views of the mountain range. House in the Mountains; Colorado / GLUCK+Save this picture!House in the Mountains; Colorado / GLUCK+ © Steve MundingerRoof planes appear as native mountain meadows, making the structure practically invisible from the road above. These green roofs not only provide a super-insulated envelope but also preserve and highlight the original view from the existing house. Continuous clerestory windows wrap around the interior, screening out the road and revealing a spectacular mountain panorama. This clerestory creates a completely daylit space, with lighting necessary only at night. Solar panels are incorporated in the building façade. A retaining wall, clad in Cor-ten steel and cement board, slices diagonally across the site, capturing one side of the solar courtyard and, on the other, forming a private sunken court adjacent to the main living area. Lake View Residence; Austin, Texas / Alterstudio Architecture LLPSave this picture!Lake View Residence; Austin, Texas / Alterstudio Architecture LLP © Patrick Wong, Casey DunnThe 5,900-square-foot house emphasizes views and a dynamic spatial sequence. A rich palette of materials on the interior, including mahogany cabinetry and longleaf pine floors, combines to create a warm environment. Oriented for optimal cross-ventilation and protection from the sun without eschewing the view westward, this project also features geothermal HVAC systems, a photovoltaic array, reflective TPO roofing, cellular foam insulation, tankless water heaters, and FSC-certified and reclaimed woods. The house also takes advantage of the tree canopy to provide additional shading, and carefully placed skylights bring diffused daylight to the interior and help reduce reliance on electric lighting.Multifamily Living:The Multifamily Housing award recognizes outstanding apartment and condominium design. Both high- and low-density projects for public and private clients were considered. In addition to architectural design features, the jury assessed the integration of the building(s) into their context, including open and recreational space, transportation options and features that contribute to livable communities.Via Verde – The Green Way; Bronx, New York / Dattner Architects and Grimshaw ArchitectsSave this picture!Via Verde – The Green Way; Bronx, New York / Dattner Architects and Grimshaw Architects David Sundberg/EstoThis mixed-use complex provides healthy, affordable urban living for low- and middle-income residents of the South Bronx. Built on a former brownfield site, the project comprises three building types: a 20-story tower, a 6- to 13-story midrise duplex apartment component, 2- to 4-story town houses, 222-unit complex includes. Large windows, typically on two exposures, allow cross-ventilation and provide abundant daylighting. The garden begins as a courtyard on grade and steps up through a series of south-facing roof terraces. The terraces, many of which are accessible to residents, feature a small apple orchard and plots for growing vegetables while also providing storm water control, enhanced insulation, and mitigation of the urban heat island effect. Rainwater is collected and recycled for irrigation. Specialized Housing:The Special Housing award recognizes outstanding design of housing that meets the unique needs of other specialized housing types such as single room occupancy residences (SROs), independent living for the disabled, residential rehabilitation programs, domestic violence shelters, and other special housing. The project has created a new walkable, transit-oriented neighborhood. To ensure the project is woven into the fabric of the city, it includes a number of publicly accessible spaces, including a 116-seat restaurant, 7,000-square-foot grocery store, café, conference center, academic support center, health and wellness center, and two retail spaces. The exterior material palette was kept simple and economical: imperial-sized brick, white vinyl windows, wood, and weathering steel. Interior materials—mostly recycled, with no VOC content—were selected on the basis of reducing the energy required for shipping and manufacture.2013 Jury:  Kathleen Dorgan, AIA, Chair, Dorgan Architecture & Planning John Isch, AIA, RWA Architects, Inc.
