Former Buckeyes’ star quarterback Troy Smith won the prestigious award in 2006 while leading OSU to a national title game appearance.Ohio State has had several elite players in recent years, from Braxton Miller to Ezekiel Elliott to J.T. Barrett, but none of them ended up being in serious Heisman Trophy contention come December. Will that change this season?Miller thinks so.The former star Ohio State quarterback has made a bold prediction for Haskins’ future. From Lettermen Row:“I told him that one day he’s going to win the Heisman,” Miller said with a smile. “I’ve known Dwayne for two years now. Man, he’s dope, he’s nice.“I haven’t thrown with him since last year. But every since he came in, whenever I needed somebody to throw with when J.T. [Barrett] wasn’t there or available, he was always available and always willing to work. He reminds me of myself in a way. He just wanted to go get it.”Haskins was named Ohio State’s starting quarterback about a month ago. He was competing for the job with Joe Burrow, who ended up transferring to LSU.The former four-star recruit played well as a backup in 2017, helping lead Ohio State to a win over Michigan when Barrett got hurt.Ohio State is set to open the 2018 season on Sept. 1 against Oregon State.
