(Lee-Hesh war gets uglier)The senior AITA official also said that they expect the veteran players to behave in a mature manner. (Talk is cheap, history books don’t lie: Paes)Bhupathi made public his chat with Paes to counter accusations that he used his position to exclude the Olympic medallist from the playing squad.”We expect these senior pros to be more mature. The way they are going about it, we are not appreciating it. We have to talk to them and make sure they behave in a much more mature manner,” Chatterjee said. The Bengal Tennis Association President also said that Paes should have avoided making comments on his exclusion during the tie.”Leander should not have spoken when the tie was on.Mahesh did the right thing by speaking after the tie was over,” Chatterjee felt.advertisementThe AITA official said he has seen the whatsapp chat between Paes and Bhupathi and its aim now is to bring them together and sort out the issues.”I have also seen it and discussed it with Leander. I am going to sit and talk to both of them when I get time since they are both travelling.”I do intend to bring them together. They will settle it out. They are mature people but the reactions they have given could have been much better,” he said.Bhupathi, in his Facebook Post, had mentioned that he the backing of the establishment in implementing his ideas as he strives to get the team back to World Group. Chatterjee endorsed the non-playing captain’s view.”Well whatever he wants to do and whatever he has said, definitely he has been interacting with the federation and there is no doubt about that. He has discussed everything with us. There are no issues with that,” he said. After Bhupathi claimed that personal agenda was not behind Paes’ exclusion, the latter issued a statement that he was never categorically told that he would not be in the playing four, which he found disrespectful. The Lee-Hesh saga goes back to the late 1990s and their acrimonious relationship has been a talking point in Indian tennis.last_img

Gautam Gambhir credits bowling attack after Kolkata Knight Riders trample Royal Challengers Bangalore

first_imgGautam Gambhir was pleased as punch following Kolkata Knight Riders’ massive 82-run victory over bottom-ranked Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens on Sunday night.Gambhir praised his side’s pace battery for pulling off a sensational victory as they defended a paltry 131 to register their fifth win in the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League.”Very professional. A lot of credit needs to go to the bowling attack. Not a lot of teams have the kind of pace that we have. We just want them to hit the deck and bowl quick and that’s what they did,” Gambhir said at the post match presentation  ceremony.Chasing 132 for a win, RCB’s chase never took off with Virat Kohli bagging his third first-ball duck in the first over. Nathan Coulter-Nile (3/21), Chris Woakes (3/6), Colin de Grandhomme (3/4) and Umesh Yadav (1/15) wreaked havoc to bundle out Bangalore for 49 in 9.4 overs, the lowest-ever IPL total.”We thought that there was something in there for the fast bowlers. Lot of credit needs to go to the bowling department. I’ve not seen a more impressive bowling attack,” Gambhir added. The KKR skipper further rued his team’s batting collapse but was however relieved to end up with two points.”We didn’t bat well at all. We should have got 160-170. If you’re looking to win the tournament, you can’t bat like that. So if you win batting first, it gives you a lot of confidence,” he said.Kolkata maintain their second spot after seven matches. KKR next travel to Pune for a clash against Rising Pune Supergiant on Wednesday.advertisementlast_img
